/ Jul 05, 2018

There are so many things you can say about this Greek island, which really do not fit in a single article. History, culture, beauty, laziness combine harmoniously make the island an irresistible attraction for the tourist community. Specifically, Santorini and Mykonos this season will accommodate more tourists than Ibiza or Sardinia, which are famous tourist resorts during the summer season.

To begin with, Santorini is an island in the southern Aegean sea, about 200km southeast of Greece’s mainland. It forms thw southernmost member of thw Cycladew group of islands.

Santorini  is not famous for its crystal clear waters, but for its original beaches. The red beach (red sand), Perivolos (black sand), the white beach, Vlychada will look special and at the same time you should definitely visit Ammoudi, a very picturesque part of Santorini, which deserves to go down with the mules and climb up the cable car.

One day of your vacation is worth it in the volcano. Boats will take you there and tell you the history of the volcano. They will also allow you to swim in the area near the volcano, where sulfur is produced, the water is yellowish, the temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius and is essentially a natural spa! It is worth doing!

Of course, Santorini is known for its sunset. In Oia, one of the most photographed places in Greece, you will admire the magical sunset with thousands of tourists. Also, Fira, the capital of Santorini, due to its unique position on the caldera offers a breathtaking view in New and Old Kameni. There you will find many shops to buy things, many shops to eat and gain new experiences! A fascinating view can be also  enjoyed in Firostefani as well as in Imerovigli overlooking the caldera and Thirasia.

If you wish to widen your historical horizons, a good choice is Akrotiri, a picturesque village with a prehistoric settlement.

Do not forget to taste the famous cherry tomatoes, as well as the tomato balls, which due to the volcanic soil acquire unique flavor. Try also the unique fava of Santorini, you will be surprised! By leaving the island, you will not forget  to buy Vinsanto, a unique wine which will be appreciated especially by its lovers! Have fun !!
